Try a Taste of Powys

Fri 04 July 2012

A new on-line directory has been created for food and drink producers from across Powys to register their business, free of charge. The directory is going to be promoted to the tourism industry including restaurants, café’s, bed and breakfasts, self catering and hotels that all have an interest in promoting local food.

Visitors to Powys are drawn to the area by the opportunity to spend time outdoors and be inspired by the natural landscape with the chance to escape from a busy lifestyle dictated by work and time constraints. Powys is able to offer an escape and appreciate the natural beauty that we sometimes take for granted, living in Wales.

Travelling to somewhere new means experiencing that place and what it has to offer. Eating a breakfast or dinner identical to what is on offer at home, is not what people want after travelling to their holiday destination.

Powys has outstanding produce on offer such as fine ales, artisan bakeries, fresh vegetables, world famous lamb, free range eggs and real dairy ice cream. The demand for good quality produce is high, with a growing trend to have local food and drink on bar and hotel restaurant menus. Places to stay can often now also offer a ‘welcome box’ with bread, milk, butter, bacon and eggs at a small extra cost.

To make it easier for local food and drink to reach the visitors to Powys, the Taste of Powys website is inviting all food and drink producer across Powys to register their details, in order for local tourism trade to access the excellent produce on offer. Taste of Powys will also actively promote the direct sales of local produce by promoting farmers markets, farm shops and box schemes to locals as well as visitors.

If you want to increase your potential profit making, and help your business to thrive and grow please visit the Taste of Powys website www.tasteofpowys.org.uk to register your details.
