ZERO WASTE ACTION will seek to support projects that:
- Trial new or innovative approaches to waste management, collection, handling, transportation or reprocessing of recyclates;
- Offer operational innovation and develop new models of good practice;
- Seek to recover value or energy from waste or discarded goods or items;
- Include the creation or expansion of initiatives for shared project development inter-trading, local sourcing or distribution;
- Stimulate job creation and retention, particularly within geographically and demographically disadvantaged groups;
- Demonstrate a commitment to research and development as part of a wider operational activity.
The following are just some examples of the type of projects which could be eligible for support under this grant:-
- Project studies particularly for small farm family businesses and start-ups
- Projects which make full use of ICT
- Projects which encourage networking and collaborative approaches
- Joint marketing initiatives
- Projects which lead to the reduction of waste to landfill and emissions in particular methane
- Projects which add value to recycled materials
Project Applicants
Individuals, businesses and voluntary/community groups and social enterprises up to the scale of micro enterprises (up to 10 employees).
Project Budget
Available grant will total £400,000 of which £150k will be available for revenue and £250k for capital items up to a total value of 80% of the project value. The remaining 20% will be made up of either in-kind contributions and/or cash match.
