Supporting tourism projects and enterprises in Powys which focus on:
- Biodiversity enhancement and promotion;
- Climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Support for new ideas, products and services for tourism, through coordination of, and funding for:
- Research for assessing the feasibility of new ideas;
- Practical development of new ideas;
- Publicity and promotion;
- Marketing;
- Collaborative working;
- Infrastructural costs, for a limited number of exemplar businesses.
Project Applicants
More specifically, providing support and promoting sustainable tourism projects and businesses including:
- Accommodation providers, venues and other enterprises aspiring to be green and cater for green tourists.
- Businesses and projects improving access to wildlife for tourists.
- Projects employing routes or trails (foot, cycle, horse, boat, train, etc) linking green accommodation, wildlife sites and other green venues (eg renewable energy sites) for tourists.
Project Budget
Project budget £107, 555 (£79, 227 as cash; £28, 328 recipient match funding).
Therefore successful applicants will need to contribute/match-fund a proportion of the total project costs. The actual levels of match-funding contributions will be determined on an individual basis, but will typically be of the order of 26%. Match funding contributions, may be as cash or as an in-kind contribution of beneficiaries’ other resources (e.g. volunteers time). However, the total project costs must be fully supported by recognised evidence (receipts. timesheets, etc).

- Completion and submission of project proposal/application form by applicant;
- Preliminary assessment of application by project officer/Glasu manager;
- Proposal submitted to, and assessed by Glasu Local Action Group (governing board) at quarterly meetings commencing December 08.
