Do you have an idea for a wild product or green service in Powys?

Do you own an area of peatland you would like to restore?

Wild and Green aims to promote economic, sustainable growth in Powys by developing a range of ecological goods and services. More specifically, the project will offer support for research and development of innovative, added-value products. This will be achieved through co-ordination, research and product development and marketing and promotion for ideas which both enhance local biodiversity, landscapes and natural heritage and help mitigate climate change impacts.

Opportunities could include: harnessing traditional, forgotten or over-looked harvests from conventional natural resources (pasture, woodlands, etc.)

Such products may be completely new, or they may be rediscovering historical uses for wild products, for example:

  • Elder leaves were used to repel flies in the home.
  • Fibrous elm bark for string and rope.
  • Wild cherry bark and nettle equine treats
  • Textiles made from nettle fibres
