Are you a small business involved in the Renewables sector in Powys?

The project will support micro-businesses and new business start ups in Powys by

  • supplying access to the most up to date advice and expertise
  • funding professionals in the renewable sector to attend relevant demonstrations, seminars and workshops
  • facilitating technology transfer between Powys and mainland European countries
  • providing case studies for enabling knowledge and technical transfer to other communities, businesses and individuals
  • organising and running of visits to see exemplar projects
  • establish and promote a Powys-wide support and information service to increase awareness of new renewable energy technologies. It will include sign posting to bespoke practical advice on detailed aspects of renewable technology installation such as legal and planning aspects.

Key throughout, is to increase awareness, confidence and demand amongst the potential end users for renewable technologies. With the aim of supporting the local economy by providing further job opportunities in micro-businesses or through self employment in the renewables sector.

Project Applicants

Individuals, businesses and voluntary/community groups and social enterprises up to the scale of micro enterprises (up to 10 employees). More specifically, providing support and promoting projects ideas such as:

  • Small businesses or the self employed wishing to gain or expand their knowledge of energy saving devices, renewable technologies and sustainable techniques
  • Individuals wanting to further their understanding of new and emerging renewable energy advancements
  • Projects looking to stimulate demand for renewable technologies such as collaborating with communities to promote, advance or increase awareness of green issues.

Project Budget

Project budget £51,000 (£36,213 as cash; £14,787 recipient match funding).

Successful applicants will need to contribute/match-fund a proportion of the total project costs. The actual levels of match-funding contributions will be determined on an individual basis, but will typically be around 30%. Match funding contributions, may be as cash or as an in-kind contribution of beneficiaries’ other resources (e.g. volunteers time). However, the total project costs must be fully supported by recognised evidence (receipts. timesheets, etc).

How to apply

  1. Initial enquiry and discussion between applicant and project officer;
  2. Completion and submission of project proposal/application form by applicant;
  3. Preliminary assessment of application by project officer/Glasu manager;
  4. Proposal submitted to, and assessed by Glasu Local Action Group (governing board) at quarterly meetings commencing December 08.
