Low Carbon Futures will support Powys communities and businesses develop ideas in the following areas:

  • Supporting measures to improve renewable energy and energy efficiencies within Powys.
  • Support for encouraging Transition Town initiatives and climate change adaptation plans in Powys towns and communities.
  • Carbon footprinting – providing the opportunity for local micro enterprises adopt energy saving measures.
  • ‘New from Old’ – identifying new and innovative approaches and methods for recycling initiatives.
  • Innovative energy solutions and innovative waste solutions.

Project Applicants

Project applicants can be individuals, businesses and voluntary/community groups and social enterprises up to the scale of micro enterprises (up to 10 employees).

Project Budget

Project budget £158,000 (£122,832 as cash; £35,168 recipient match funding).

Therefore successful applicants will need to contribute/match-fund a proportion of the total project costs. The actual levels of match-funding contributions will be determined on an individual basis, but will typically be of the order of 30%. Match funding contributions, may be as cash or as an in-kind contribution of beneficiaries’ other resources (e.g. volunteers time). However, the total project costs must be fully supported by recognised evidence (receipts. timesheets, etc).

How to apply

  1. Initial enquiry and discussion between applicant and project officer;
  2. Completion and submission of project proposal/application form by applicant;
  3. Preliminary assessment of application by project officer/Glasu manager;
  4. Proposal submitted to, and assessed by Glasu Local Action Group (governing board) at quarterly meetings commencing December 08.
