The project will support:-

  • Activities that provide visitors and local communities with the opportunity to learn about local culture and heritage – e.g. setting up a website or creating a CD-Rom telling the local story; developing a trail to support a network of local buildings or sites of interest
  • Traditional buildings and landscapes – promoting the preservation and maintenance of the local natural environment
  • Access to local products, culture and heritage –this could be support for a new Powys Guild of Crafts or researching and developing new products and services within the culture, heritage, arts and crafts sector using local products and skills.

Project Applicants

Project applicants can be individuals, businesses and voluntary/community groups and social enterprises. In particular, applicants can be new or existing groups wanting to promote local culture, heritage, arts and local products and services. Funding can be used to finance research and development, promotional materials and marketing, and to set up networks and groups.

Project Budget

Project budget £160,000 (£124,561 as cash; £35,439 recipient match funding).

Successful applicants will need to contribute/match-fund a proportion of the total project costs. The actual levels of match-funding contributions will be determined on an individual basis, but will typically be of the order of 30%. Match funding contributions, may be as cash or as an in-kind contribution of beneficiaries’ other resources (e.g. volunteers time). However, the total project costs must be fully supported by recognised evidence (receipts. timesheets, etc).

How to apply

  1. Initial enquiry and discussion between applicant and project officer;
  2. Completion and submission of project proposal/application form by applicant;
  3. Preliminary assessment of application by project officer/Glasu manager;
  4. Proposal submitted to, and assessed by Glasu Local Action Group (governing board) (quarterly commencing December 08).
