Cyfle i Greu Chance to Create is a delegated grant scheme designed to support new and innovative arts or creative industry projects with a commercial or business focus. Additionally, CiG aims to support projects which can demonstrate additional community benefit by stimulating wider local economic and cultural activity.
This scheme offers capital and revenue grant support to innovative projects which connect creativity and commerce i.e. projects which are creative industries or arts based with a business focus.
Eligible projects must be of an arts or cultural nature. This includes visual arts, performing arts, music, literature, crafts and applied art, design, film, new media and architecture.
The range of projects that can potentially be supported by the scheme is wide. The following are just some examples of the type of projects which could be eligible for support under this grant:-

- New product development and / or manufacture.
- New events or new elements of existing events.
- Market research, marketing development, marketing trials e.g. websites or use of new media.
- Development of culturally interpretive projects.
- Experimental work.
- Bursaries.
- Apprenticeships.
- Business placements / research.
- Business diversification into the field of the arts e.g. a restaurant developing a gallery space or an open farm hosting an exhibiting artist in residence.
- ICT and new media projects with a creative focus e.g. production and web distribution of music or film.
- Recording of new material for sale.
Project Applicants
The grant scheme is open to individuals, micro-enterprises and businesses and voluntary sector organisations.
Project Budget
The overall project budget is £476,814 with £240,000 as direct grant payments and £30,000 towards project mentoring costs.The grant may offer up to 80% of the eligible costs for any one project. The remaining minimum 20% must be match funded by the organisation or another non European funding source.
The minimum amount of grant you may apply for is £500.
The maximum grant amount is set at £10,000 per project.
Match funding may be ‘in-kind’, such as, use of own studio, venue or equipment.
How to apply
Applications can be submitted to us on a rolling programme at any time from the end of September 2008 towards assessment at the next quarterly Project Assessment & Advisory Panel meeting. These dates will be set at project start.
The last date for receipt of applications will be 31st July 2010 (subject to the availability of funds and length of proposed project). All projects must be fully completed, evaluations submitted and all funds drawn down by 28th February 2011.
